In accordance with its specialism, Liverpool College selects 10% of the agreed admission number (18 places) to those children who demonstrate an aptitude for learning music.
The Test: there are two Music Aptitude Tests.
Test 1 is a listening test in four parts. It is testing aptitude for recognition of musical elements.
Test 2 is a four part test and is testing aural skills.
The top 30 pupils who achieve the required score at test 1 will be invited for test 2 at a later date.
No previous knowledge of music is expected or required because the test is looking for aptitude to learn rather than ability or knowledge.
There is no performance element in the music aptitude test.
Those who are awarded one of the 9 Music Scholarships will be expected to play a full part in the musical life of Liverpool College.
