Marylebone Church of England School admits 168 girls into year 7 offering 16 Performing Arts Scholarships each year. Applicants may only apply for one specialism i.e Music (Instrumental), Music (Choral), Drama or Dance, and should choose the subject in which they feel most confident, enjoy the most and would want to represent at school.
MUSIC (INSTRUMENTAL & CHORAL) PLACES Music Round 1 Aptitude Test: All applicants applying for a Performing Arts place who have selected Music (Instrumental) on their online Supplementary Information Form, will be sent an email from the school inviting them to a multiple-choice listening test, which usually takes place on a Thursday afternoon in late September. The test involves a variety of questions on pitch, rhythm, melody, and identifying similarities or differences in a piece of music. This test is designed to test musical aptitude and, as such, assumes no previous training, knowledge or experience of music or music theory.

Music (Instrumental & Choral ) Round 2 Aptitude Test: The highest scoring Music (Instrumental) applicants from the Music Round 1 Aptitude Test will be invited to attend the Music (Instrumental) Round 2 Aptitude Test, which usually takes place on a Saturday morning in early October. This test will assess musical aptitude further, but still assumes no previous musical knowledge or experience. The test will involve a second aural test and applicants will be invited to perform something which demonstrates their musical aptitude, on ONE instrument of their choice. For CHORAL places, applicants will have the chance to further demonstrate their musical aptitude through singing.
