Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School offer 17 places (year 7 admission number is175) on the basis of musical aptitude. These places are aimed at supporting talented musicians who will enrich the musical life of the school.

Stage 1: All applicants will be invited to attend an Aural Assessment Test. The aural test will consist of a set of recorded sounds and music focusing on musical features such as pitch, melody, texture and rhythm. Set gaps will allow candidates time to give their responses to each question. Successful applicants from this test will be invited to attend an individual Musical Aptitude Assessment.

Stage 2: For this assessment, candidates are asked to prepare two contrasting pieces on their main instrument or voice. As an alternative, they may choose to offer performances on two different instruments or voice, however, it should be noted that candidates are encouraged to perform at their highest level.
